A3. Our trademark, "ONWARD," comes from a Christian hymn, "Onward, Christian Soldiers," that brought back a lot of memories to the late Junzo Kashiyama, our founder, and was registered in July 1951.
Junzo Kashiyama was not a Christian and it was unusual to use an adverb as a brand name, but it was decided that "ONWARD" would be our brand name because its meaning, "move forward," is a great fit with our spirit of seeking new challenges. The company name "Onward Kashiyama" adopted in 1988, our 60th anniversary, is a combination of the trademark "ONWARD" and the trade name "Kashiyama." In 2007, we changed the company name to Onward Holdings to reflect the transition to a holding company system.
A4. The Company was established on September 4, 1947, but our roots go back to Kashiyama Trading, which was founded in 1927.
