On October 13 (Thursday), Onward Group's J. PRESS INC. (Head office: New York, U.S.A.; President and CEO: Jun Murakami) held an event to celebrate the brand's 120th anniversary and the grand opening of its flagship store, "J. PRESS NEW HAVEN Store."

'J. PRESS' was founded in 1902 by Jacoby Press in front of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Since then, the company has been based on tradition and craftsmanship (skill) backed by its history. Founder Jacoby Press's craftsmanship, which focuses on "comfortable clothing for the wearer," has established a silhouette that is true to the human form and can be worn by anyone, earning him a reputation. This dedication to making clothes has been passed down to the present day, 120 years after the company was founded.

The event celebrating the 120th anniversary of the brand and the grand opening of "J. PRESS NEW HAVEN" was attended by many stakeholders and media, including Justin Elicker, the mayor of New Haven. A talk show by Richard Press, grandson of the founder, and a screening of an edited film on the history of "J. PRESS." The event celebrated the brand's 120th anniversary and grand opening with a giant bulldog photo booth, the brand's symbol, and an autograph session to mark the publication of the second volume of "Threading the Needle," a compilation of Richard Press's columns.

"J. PRESS NEW HAVEN" is located on Elm Street, adjacent to York Street, where the store has been located for over a century since its founding. Built in 1900, the three-story building with one basement level has a stern exterior characterized by "J. PRESS" blue sunshades in the windows on each floor. The first and second floors, which are store floors, display vintage furniture from longtime York Street stores and antique accessories with an Ivy theme. The store will have an e-commerce logistics function in addition to the store function, and will globally distribute products and the brand message from the place of its establishment.
In addition, on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the company's founding, a new line, "J. PRESS PENNANT LABEL," was launched. The label will offer a lineup of officially licensed Ivy League wear and fitted casual wear as an introduction to the brand and as a complement to the classic heritage collection.

In Japan, Onward Kashiyama is planning a variety of 120th anniversary projects under the concept of "Re120:" Starting with the opening of a special website, the company will create mosaic art of "J. PRESS NEW HAVEN," remake blazers, develop 120th anniversary items, and hold events for customers at the hotel. We will evolve direct and interactive communication with our customers and aim to be a brand that carries on "tradition and craftsmanship" into the present and connects it to the future.
